The 251 series is called a resort train, and has unique panoramic windows for a great scenic view of the surroundings.

The 253 series is specifically for going to Narita airport. The design is very clean and modern.

The 255 series has a unique blue and yellow color scheme. It went into service for the first time in 1993. It is also known commonly as the Boso view express.

The 257 series has unique "cat eye" like design. It is important for characteristic design changes for Japanese trains because there are so many models. Without these differences, it would get confusing.

The 281 series is an express train that runs from Osaka to Kyoto.

The 283 series is dubbed the "Ocean Arrow", as it runs along the shoreline. It has a pleasing, aerodynamic shape.

The 285 series is a two level sleeping car train.

Here is a superb model of the 351 series that shows the detail of the LED screen.

The 351 has a unique LED screen embedded into the front. A very modern design, and it reminds me of a 747 in some ways.

The 651 series is another unique looking train with a LED screen embedded into the front.

The 681 and 683 series is called the "Thunder bird". It has a unique four headlight design.

The 885 series is a torpedo-like deign that runs to Nagasaki. I have actually taken a ride on this train. The interiors are amazing.

Here is an actual 885 series running. Notice the Yellow and White color theme.

And there are many other variations that I was not able to include. The Japanese have the widest variety of trains in the world.
